There are many factors as to why someone might put off redesigning their website. Familiarity could be one reason, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, as the old saying goes. Cost, redesigning or creating a new website can sometimes be a significant investment and one that not everyone may be comfortable with. The truth is, there aren’t many websites that won’t undergo at least small redesigns during their lifecycle. It’s important that you ensure a redesign is undertaken for the right reasons. I’ll list out some of those reasons below.
1. Your website no longer reflects your business
Having a cohesive and consistent brand is vital for a potential lead/customer to trust you and your business. Your business may change over time and it’s easy to forget and leave your website in the past. Not only should your website reflect your businesses personality and services, but it should also reflect what you’re trying to put across to potential customers. By ensuring a consistent experience across the entirety of your business, from your shop front to your website, you’ll be more likely to appeal to your target audience. After all, what’s the first thing you do when looking up a new business? You Google them. Making good first impressions is paramount.
2. Your website has performance issues/is very slow
In this new digital age, people really value their time, more than ever before. Nobody has time to wait 10 seconds for your website to load. 47% of visitors expect a website to load in less than 2 seconds, and 40% of visitors will leave the website if the loading process takes more than 3 seconds. Every individual who leaves your website due to slow loading times is a potential customer for your competitors. If your website is built using WordPress, there are some easy ways to quickly speed up your website. However, sometimes the issues stem a lot deeper than just bad hosting or large images. Sometimes, it can fall into bad development, issues deep inside the code. Thankfully, I build my websites with speed in mind, so you can rest easy knowing your new website will be blazing fast.
3. Your website is not mobile-friendly
As of January 2021, 55% of all web traffic came from a mobile device. If your website can’t be easily viewed by users on all devices such as phones, tablets and desktops, then you’re being left behind. If you can’t confidently offer your services to potential customers across all devices then you are missing out on a huge pool of potential customers. Having your website be fully responsive is no longer a ‘nice to have’, it is essential for the growth and success of your business.
There are many, many other reasons you should consider a new redesign of your website, the above are just a few of the most important reasons to consider.
