A bespoke online shop for students and teachers
A bespoke online shop for students and teachers
An ageing website turned into an online shop for digital teaching resources, books and magazines, with separate accounts for students and teachers.
01 How I work
I keep you involved at every step. You know your business better than anyone, so the more you're part of the process, the better the end result.
I'll (virtually) sit down with you to talk through your business's needs and goals. I want to get a genuine understanding of your business, and what you're hoping to achieve. This is the most important part - it sets the whole project off in the right direction.
Next, I'll take a look at your competition - what they're doing well, and just as importantly, where they're falling short, so we can steer clear of the same mistakes. It gives me a much clearer view of your business, and helps guide the design decisions that follow.
Then comes wireframing. Simply put, I put together the bare bones of your website. Think of it as the skeleton, before any muscle or skin. It's a step I mostly keep behind the scenes, but I'm always happy to walk you through it if you're curious.
Now for the fun part. I take the wireframe and build it up - turning flat boxes and lines into a proper design. I work in phases, starting with one prototype, gathering your feedback, and building from there.
Once I'm happy with where the design's at, I'll share it with you for review. I'd encourage you to be as thorough and honest as possible. It's your website after all, and you always have the final say. That said, I'll happily offer my "professional" opinion where I think it helps.
You'll get all the files, fonts, and licences, plus a full walkthrough of how to use your new design. Once the final payment's made, it's all yours to do with as you please.

03 How it works
Half an hour on a call. What the business needs, what's in the way, what you can spend.
One page: scope, price, dates. Nothing starts until you've said yes to it.
Wireframes, then the full design. You'll see progress every week and can comment as we go.
Files, fonts and a walk-through. Build it yourself or have me do it.
04 Straight answers
Anything missing? Ask me directly and I'll give you a straight answer, not a sales one.
I generally allow 2 to 3 weeks for bespoke web design projects. If I'm working from existing branding then it can be much quicker. I'll always keep you informed of my progress and check in occasionally to ensure the timescale doesn't slip.
Absolutely, and it's usually cheaper. Send me whatever you have - even a logo and two colours is enough to work from. If you're struggling to take what you already have and mould it into something professional, I can help with that also.
That's what the rounds of changes are for. If we're still miles apart after the second round, I'll tell you honestly and we'll work out how to move forward. Just be upfront with me, and you'll get the same back.
Not at all. Plenty of people take the designs to their own developer, handle them in-house or by themselves. I'll hand over everything you need - designs, fonts, branding etc. It's yours to do as you please!
We'll talk through what your business needs and agree a fixed price before we start. I charge £30 an hour, with a minimum of £300 (10 hours of design work).
A couple of lines is plenty. I reply to everything within a working day, even if the answer is “I'm not the right fit”.
