A bespoke online shop for students and teachers
A bespoke online shop for students and teachers
An ageing website turned into an online shop for digital teaching resources, books and magazines, with separate accounts for students and teachers.
01 How I work
The web changes all the time, with new standards, new features and new ways of doing things. I keep on top of it so your website doesn't fall behind.
It might surprise you, but the first step is getting straight into the build. I set up my development environment, configure the CMS and build the site, closely following the designs. I shut my curtains, make a coffee and get to work - this is my bread and butter.
Once development's in good shape, I test it thoroughly. I run every site through a 10-point checklist, at regular intervals throughout the build, fixing anything that needs it before moving on to the next section.
When I'm happy with where things stand, I deploy the site to a staging server - a private testing website where we can review, test, and add content together. It's only ever shared between the two of us, so you can get familiar with the site without worrying about breaking anything, or the wrong person stumbling across it.
Before launch, I'll give you full training on the CMS (if you need it). We'll go through everything on a call, and you'll get a PDF guide to keep, so you're never stuck.
The exciting bit. I'll handle the whole launch for you - either moving the site onto your existing hosting or hosting it myself.
Launching shouldn't be the end of the journey. I like building long-term relationships with clients, and I see your website as something that should keep evolving, not something that's finished the day it goes live.

03 Getting Started
Half an hour on a call. What the business needs, what's in the way, what you can spend.
One page: scope, price, dates. Nothing starts until you've said yes to it.
I'll get cracking and develop your website - you're kept in the loop at regular intervals.
The full project launched and yours to keep. I press the button, watch it for a fortnight, and show you how to run it.
04 Straight answers
Anything missing? Ask me directly and I'll give you a straight answer, not a sales one.
Ideally, yes. I build from a design, usually one of mine from a Web Design project, but I'm also happy to build from a design you already have.
Small tweaks are usually free. Anything bigger is charged by the hour, and I'll always quote you before I start, not after.
Either works. I can migrate the site onto hosting you already have, or help you choose a host if you're unsure. I can also host it myself if that's easier for you.
Launching doesn't have to be the end point. If you want ongoing support afterwards, that's what Care & Maintenance is for.
A couple of lines is plenty. I reply to everything within a working day, even if the answer is “I'm not the right fit”.
